WRITER/DIRECTOR Muriel d'Ansembourg

Muriel d’Ansembourg is an award-winning and BAFTA-nominated writer & director, based between Amsterdam and London. Muriel studied Screenwriting in The Netherlands and graduated with Distinction for her Masters in Directing at the London Film School.

She is currently casting for her debut feature Truly Naked with casting director Des Hamilton (JoJo Rabbit, Morvern Callar, Bronson, High Life, Red Road, Nymphomaniac, Only God Forgives). The film is set in the UK and produced by Isabella Films (Els Vandevorst and Isabella Depeweg). Els Vandevorst is known for her work with directors such as Lars von Trier, Alexander Sokurov, Thomas Vinterberg, Martin Koolhoven and Brian De Palma.

The short films Muriel d'Ansembourg wrote and directed have won 26 awards and screened at over 200 film festivals world-wide. Her graduation film Good Night received a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Film followed by a theatrical release in the UK, Germany and Russia. Positive reviews have come from the likes of The Guardian, The Observer, Little White Lies and Time Out, calling her work "A standout film", "Unnerving yet transfixing", "Confident directing and astonishing performances” and “A provocative and sensual drama". She was noted as “One To Watch” by Moviescope and Creative Skillset and received mentorship from the Oscar winning director Pawel Pawlikovsky (Ida, Cold War, My Summer of Love).

Muriel was selected for the Binger Writers Lab 2014/2015 where she worked under the guidance of script consultant Franz Rodenkirchen. She has been a guest speaker and panel member at various institutions including BAFTA, BFI, National Youth Film Academy and Goldsmith University of London, as well as a jury member at several international film festivals.
